Lending Library Policy
Sustainable Princeton’s Lending Library (SPLL) loans items free of charge to Princeton municipality residents and non-profit organizations. Items can be reserved for up to two weeks. There are special considerations or borrower qualifications for some of the equipment in the Library. This document describes the specific policies around these items.
Response Time Guidelines
The SPLL responds to an online request by email generally within 1-3 business days with information regarding item availability. After the borrower confirms the loan, it takes one or more days (depending on the size of the loan) to prepare the items and make them available for pick up at our office. The borrower is responsible for the care and cost of returning the item and all associated components in good working condition.
Lost or damaged items
Borrowers agree to return items in the same condition they were in when borrowed. Borrowers who lose or damage items agree to pay the replacement costs of the item. Borrowers who lose or damage items will have their borrowing privileges revoked until the item is replaced.
Late Returns
Borrowers agree to return items within the specified time frame. The SPLL reserves the right to suspend borrowing privileges of borrowers who return items past the due date.
Eligibility
Borrowers must reside in the municipality of Princeton, NJ.
Borrowers over 18 years old must provide a valid picture ID matching the Lending Library membership.
Borrowers under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign the Loan Agreement.
Usage
2 Week Check-out, renewal if no waitlist
One renewal allowed
Sustainable Princeton reserves the right to suspend borrowing privileges for any reason.
Lost or Damaged Fees
The borrower agrees to assume any liability for the cost of repair or replacement in the event of loss due to theft, damage, negligence, or misuse.
Items not returned within 30 days of the due date are considered lost, and a replacement fee will be charged.
- Automatic replacement charges for the cost of the item will be incurred if the item is declared lost. If the item is returned, this fee may be removed, less any damages.
